The MeasureColor Server stores data in a centralized database. All communication between the MeasureColor client and the server is handled by a web server application. Windows includes a suitable web server application called Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Services).
In order to use the IIS web server you have to enable it before you install the MeasureColor server software. The Colorware installer will then automatically detect the presence of IIS and will install everything it needs for that platform.
To activate the build-in IIS webserver on a normal Windows 7/8 computer, you have to perform these simple steps:
- Open your Windows Control Panel and select Programs and Features. Then click ‘Turn Windows Features on or off’
- This will show a list of features you can enable or disable yourself
- Find ‘DotNet 4.5 Advanced Services’ (Windows 8 ) and ‘Internet Information Services’ in the list
- Activate the parts like shown on the screenshots shown on this page for your respective Operating System
- Launch the MeasureColor installer which will now use IIS as the default webserver.
Note: on Windows Server platforms, IIS activation might be done via the ‘Add roles’ feature.
Please consult your local system administrator to activate IIS on these platforms.
